About the Artist

Ann Forbush is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep appreciation for fragile landscapes and habitats. Her most recent series, called Painting the Water’s Edge, is an evocative collection of work that explores the beauty to be found along the margins. In 2019-2021, Ann focused her attention on painting images of threatened habitats and endangered species. Her landscape paintings depict the dune lakes around Grayton Beach on the Florida panhandle. She has life-long ties to this unique area, and says, “Whenever I come back and smell the sweet-musky scent of the Live Oak trees, I immediately feel like I’m eight years old again, filled with a sense of wonder.” Ann is committed to raising awareness about this beautiful and delicate ecosystem through her art and partnerships.

In the past year, Ann also participated in three group projects connected to endangered species. The first project was with an ethno-musicologist who asked artists to visualize whale songs based on a series of recordings. The second was with a preservation group based in Australia. The third was an outdoor installation along the bike path in Lexington, Massachusetts; her piece was a tribute to the renowned biodiversity expert, E.O. Wilson.
